Patrick Hong

Medical Student

B.A., Duke University

Pat passed away unexpectedly on October 31, 2022. His influence can be felt in every area of the lab, which he made a brighter, smarter place each and every day. We miss him tremendously but his impact on all of us will be everlasting.

Pat is a second-year medical student at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School. He is interested in mental health and an approach to wellness that includes physical, emotional, and spiritual health.

Prior to NJMS, he attended Duke University where he graduated summa cum laude with a B.A. in Religious Studies and minors in Chemistry and Biology. His honors thesis, “Let’s Geigh: American Buddhists on Queerness and Marriage,” took an ethnographic and historical approach to Buddhism, gender, and queerness after the landmark legalization of same-sex marriage. After graduation, he was a healthcare consultant at Cloudmed, which sparked his interest in the intersection of business and medicine.

Outside of that, you can find Pat attempting to craft the perfect chicken tzatziki bowl, going on a run, or trying to get his cat to stop using his bed as a litter box.
